Architectural Digest Home Design Show, New York

Architectural Digest Home Design Show, New York

New York. A city we hold very dear to our heart, it never skips a beat, ticking over day and night, a smorgasbord of stimuli, senses and sensational sights. If you have the chance to go, we urge you take a walk along the High-line; a public park built on an historic freight rail line elevated above the streets on Manhattan’s West Side. It is a magnificent contrast to a buzzing 24hour city. It is also central to the Design District with many warehouse type boutiques open to the public.

Besides the pizza, we were in New York for the Architectural Digest Home Design Show, a bit of a mouth full, but a brilliant design event hosted by the Architectural Digest. It was our second time exhibiting and we returned like old friends bearing new gifts, (including the Bloom pendant lights, the Iris floor light, and the Nest dining table amongst others).

New York appears to be our go to market, the clientele are savvy, friendly and appreciate the back-story of MacMaster and the hand-made to order approach. We will continue to build on this over the coming months so that we may service a greater demographic within the States. We are currently investigating the West Coast and an equally impressive show called Dwell on Design. If any readers have been to the show we would love to hear your thoughts and perhaps ask your opinion on whether it is right for MacMaster. Do get in touch...

Northern Light Fair

Northern Light Fair

Well, we are back from Sweden - we drove from Worcestershire, (UK) which some may say is foolish, but when you get to take in six countries on route it starts to make sense. It was minus 18C on arrival, cold but sunny, and we were happy to be in one of the most stunning cities in the World; a true gem which is the centre of a vast archipelago consisting of thousands of islands.

The Stockholm Furniture Fair is a vast affair and hosts some of the most renowned furniture and lighting companies within the greater Scandinavian market. It is always a joy to be among great design and we found, to our surprise, that we were one of only two British companies in our hall, not a big turnout for the British. This eventually played to our advantage and also prompted some humorous exchanges with clientele along the lines of...

Client: where are you coming from?

MacMaster: ...from the UK.

Client: Sorry? You can't be from Britain, they cannot design there!!

MacMaster: ...yes, I’m afraid we are from Britain.

Client: Well, congratulations. You have some beautiful designs.

This exchange occurred on several occasions and we began to enjoy the novelty of the Swedish clientele discovering a British Design company they admired. And with that we returned to the UK with some excellent contacts determined to spread the good word about emerging British Design!
